Ridgepoint Civil Engineering School Ltd was established in 2011 to give technicians, career changers, and early-career engineers a place to practise civil engineering skills with instruments and tutors in the room.
Official name & origins
The official registered business name is Ridgepoint Civil Engineering School Ltd. Founded in 2011 by practising engineers who were tired of short courses that never touched a total station or a cube mould, the school opened first as evening studios above workshops near Browning Street.
Within three years the materials laboratory and practice yard joined the teaching rooms. Today the same address hosts structural studios, surveying workshops, highways CPD weeks, and flood resilience seminars — always with West Midlands projects as the reference, not abstract case studies from elsewhere.
How we teach
Sessions favour worked examples, marked sketches, and supervised instrument time. Tutors hold chartered or technician credentials in their fields and keep active links with local contractors and consultancies. Cohort sizes stay limited so feedback arrives before habits harden.
